Is this saute tool better than a wood spoon? I'd say so. I certainly use it way more. It doesn't scratch nonstick pans, just like a wood spoon, but I think it functions much better and in a wider variety of circumstances than a spoon. Especially when it comes to making good contact with the bottom of a pot or a pan to scrape things off the bottom. One of my friend's tools has been used nearly every day for 3 years and shows zero signs of wear. I love it, use it all of the time, absolutely no complaints.
