Epicurean is excited to be enrolled in WindSense, a program that is helping our local power company develop renewable energy. Minnesota Power offers customers the opportunity to buy blocks of wind-generated electricity at a premium price. Through the terms of a 15-year agreement, Minnesota Power is purchasing half the output of three new wind generators owned by Great River Energy at Chandler Hills Wind Farm in southwestern Minnesota. The utility also has developed its own wind generation facilities on the Iron Range and in North Dakota. On February 22, 2007,then-Governor Tim Pawlenty signed into law a renewable energy requirement for 25% of the electricity produced by the Minnesota's utilities to come from renewables by 2025.
